A summer puppy filled wedding at the Gables at Chadds Ford

Alexis: We chose our perfect indoor/outdoor garden venue in the Gables at Chadds Ford. We really wanted to keep the whole day true to our personalities, so we created many of the wedding day elements. I started collecting the bohemian wedding decor pieces early on in the planning process and they came together so perfectly. We turned small soap jars into center piece vases, DYI’ed an Ikea table for our sweetheart table, and bought a variety of rattan furniture, ottomans, and rugs from places like thrift stores/liquidation warehouses, Homegoods, and Urban Outfitters!

Our wedding day at The Gables was filled with so much happiness, and thanks to the Brandywine Valley SPCA, it was filled with puppies as well! While Dylan and I both have a strong love for each other, the love for our dog Gordon (and all animals) definitely comes in close competition. So we knew Gordon had to be part of our wedding, but we also wanted to incorporate a way to include other dogs, and more specifically, ones that were in need of a home. We invited the Brandywine Valley SPCA to bring puppies to The Gables for guests to play with before the start of the ceremony. All of the dogs were so adorable and well behaved, and our friends and family loved it! It just felt right to us to introduce these pups to our loved ones, and hopefully help them get adopted into a caring home. The love that you get from a dog is unconditional, and we wanted to incorporate that type of love into our wedding day. Having the puppies there truly completed our day. Within a week, all of the puppies got adopted by families, and that was the icing on the (wedding) cake for us! In lieu of wedding favors for guests, we donated to the Brandywine Valley SPCA.
